 Oculus Demonstrates
Excel-Based Financial Visualization at the Infrastructure
for Advanced Trading Forum
New York, NY - May 11, 2005 Oculus Info
Inc. continues to push the state of the art in
data visualization with new techniques for visualizing
Microsoft® Excel 2003 spreadsheets. Rapid and
powerful 3D visualization of spreadsheet data
reveals trends, patterns and anomalies to provide
financial analysts and their organizations with
a competitive edge. Oculus is pleased to be displaying
this new technology at the Infrastructure for
Advanced Trading forum on Friday May 20, 2005
in New York City.
At the forum, Oculus will demonstrate an example
visualization of a spreadsheet from Risk Capital,
LLC that models potential peak credit exposures
for pre-trade analysis. "Oculus visualization
makes patterns visible that are otherwise impossible
to see in spreadsheets, for example, dips and
twists over time, or isolated anomalies," said
Brett Humphreys, Managing Director of Risk Capital.
In addition, Oculus will show other sample visualizations
based on Oculus.NET™ software for applications
in real time market monitoring, performance analysis,
historic analysis and risk modeling.
"Excel is ubiquitous throughout the financial
markets as a sophisticated platform for collecting,
analyzing and summarizing data from multiple sources,"
says Richard Brath, Senior Director of Business
Development at Oculus. "Oculus leverages Excel
with easy-to-use visualization. Rapid insight
into spreadsheet data, means faster responses
and more deals done." The Oculus.NET platform
consists of information visualization libraries
and frameworks including the new Excel framework
for the rapid creation of new visualization prototypes
and full projects. For more information about

The dataset is 522 days by 60 months of currency
pricing data. The spreadsheet on the left
can view only 80 rows x 32 columns for a total
display of 2,560 values. The Oculus visualization
on the right shows the full dataset of 31,320
values, more than 12 times the amount of data
visible in the spreadsheet. |
